Got New All About Scrapbooking Tools

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I have a pack of eyelets here that I bought some time ago. I have no idea what tool to use for them. I was told that there’s a tool for punching eyelets but the lady at the store where I bought the pack told me I can just use a hammer. While searching for eyelet tools, I saw crop-a-dile, fiskars eyelet setter and others. But they don’t seem to be available here in my area so that means I still have to pay for  shipping and other charges. I had to go looking around in craft shops and bookstores.

It was in National Bookstore that I saw an eyelet punch tool with a hammer which does not cost much. It’s a product of All About Scrapbooking. Only a couple of stocks left so I bought one. I also saw quite a number of scrapbooking items to choose from. I’m not really into scrapbooking so I just looked at the other items available. The distressing inks caught my attention. It doesn’t cost much, too, and I wanted to try it. There were, however, very limited colors. I can only find two. So I just got the 2 colors along with the eyelet punch and hammer set.

I’m excited to use them. I have so wanted to make a simple fan invitation and other projects using eyelets and I’ll be trying them soon. I also just bought a replacement black ink cartridge for my Epson printer which is nearly out of black ink. I’ll print the stuff I’ll be doing using that printer although printout isn’t that great unless I use the genuine Epson  paper. As soon as all the ink cartridges run out I’ll have my printer converted to CIS.

I’ll post some projects I will be doing using these tools soon. =)

E-wers? Flowers!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

My 2 year old niece Lexi loves flowers. Before she turned two last month, she pronounces flowers as o-wers. She pronounces most 2 syllable words with an O: o-bie (for her dog Robie), ogi (for Mama’s dog pogi). But after her 2nd birthday she’s now pronouncing words with an E: e-mie (mommy), e-dy (daddy), e-bie (Robie), e-fon (cellphone), e-fan (electric fan) and… e-wers (flowers). Glad to hear she still calls me Tita. c”,)

Anyway, she loves flowers so much the she picks flowers outside our neighbors’ fences whenever she goes out. There are no more flowers in the plants here at home because she picked them all already. And she wants some more.

Last month during her mommy and daddy’s anniversary, her daddy gave her mommy a bouquet of red roses. Lexi was SOOOO excited to see flowers. She claimed the bouquet as her own (see pic below). Then two days ago, Tita Laarnie and Tito Eric gave Mommy-La a bouquet of roses for an early birthday. She claimed it as hers again. There’s another pic of her with Mommy-La’s bouquet. Both bouquets are actually too big for her. So I told her we’d make a small (mini) bouquet just for her.

We have some materials to be used at home so we just need to look for small flowers. As I was on an errand near the cathedral the other day I noticed some stalls selling flowers. There wasn’t much variety to choose from. There were a lot of daisies and red roses but I don’t wanna use them. I found a few pink and white small roses so I bought a dozen for Lexi.

Less than 24 hrs ago, Mommy-La celebrated her birthday and since she already has a bouquet, Lexi and I made her mini-bouquet with the small roses I bought and the materials we had her at home. Here’s our DIY mini bouquet (1st practice). Hehe…

She liked it so much she acted as if she was the celebrant… Next time we’ll look for better flowers and buy materials so we can make a bigger and better bouquet.

My Craft Books

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I bought two Japanese craft books and a children’s craft book last May. Two for paper crafts and another for gift-wrapping. Of cource, I can’t understand the contents of the Japanese books but the pictures and step-by-step pics make up for it. I swear, I really have to study Japanese now. Japan has so many interesting books on paper crafts.

At home, while rearranging stuff in our bookshelf, I found other books I’ve bought. Two for making bags (Japanese), two for card making, one hardcover paper craft book, and one Memory Keepsakes book.

I think I have other books before but can’t remember what, how many and where I’ve placed them. I know there are a lot of paper craft books out there and I always look for them when I’m in bookstores. Because the Internet offers a lot of DIY tips, I now just surf the net if I want some. It’s much more convenient, really.

But then again, I also love the feel of holding a craft book in my hands — from the materials, instructions, step-by-step pictures and the final product. Plus, it doesn’t hurt my eyes much. Of these books, I’ve done a few. Some of the projects are useful for some other projects that I made. Next time I can find something interesting I’ll probably get another one…=)
